These are the average equity gains year over year for Q1 2024… which is a fancy way of saying the average amount homeowners in these states gained in home values.

In California, the average was $69,000.

And if you bought your home prior to 2020, you’ve gained even more. National home prices increased 37.5% from 2019 to 2024.

A word of caution — online estimators are pretty unreliable. The best way to determine what your home is worth — and your subsequent potential equity gain — is to have a local real estate agent run comps and give you their expert opinion.
