A former gold mining settlement, the main street today is lined with over two dozen wine tasting rooms and surrounded by local vineyards. Nearby attractions include Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Bear Valley Ski Resort and historic Mercer Caverns.   There is something for everyone in or around Murphy's! 

Loved by foodies for the many restaurants and wineries within walking distance from each other in downtown Murphy's.  Flocked to seasonally for the 14 lakes and reservoirs within 20 miles, winter snow fun and close to Bear Valley ski resort for the snow lovers.  First class golf courses nearby, shows by Murphy's Creek Theatre, or brave the Mercer Caverns! 

You may have heard of, or even been to a summer concert at Ironstone Vineyards, where the world's largest crystalline gold leaf is displayed just south of town!   They have an amazing outdoor amphitheater that hosts pretty big names all summer long!   

The town also hosts an annual Irish Days parade and street fair every March on Main Street, with some years seeing over 35,000 people in attendance.  There is the annual Grape Stomp, Murphy's Day of the Dead festival, and the annual holiday Open House for the community to celebrate together. 

If you are looking for a good hike, or a walk through the forest, you MUST visit Big Trees State Park, just up the hill past Arnold, it is worth the visit to see the Giant Sequoia. 

Golfers will always be willing to drive a bit to visit these courses nearby - Forest Meadows, Greenhorn Creek, The Golf Club at Copper Valley, and the private Country Club Sequoia Woods in Arnold.  There is also a NEW mini golf course right in town, perfect for families and the 'just want to have fun' golfers.
